This Privacy Policy explains how MisterEtec processes personal data through Counsels Desktop Sync and the related sync service.
1. Who we are and the roles we perform
Counsels Desktop Sync is operated by MisterEtec, a proprietorship of Deepak Kumar Mishra. Our principal business address is Ground Floor, House No. 358, Khera Garhi, Near Baba Mohan Ram, New Delhi, North Delhi, Delhi - 110082, India.
For documents, matters, folders, and user data submitted by a customer organization, that organization decides why and how the data is used. It is the data controller or Data Fiduciary. MisterEtec processes that tenant data only to provide, secure, support, and improve the contracted service, and acts as processor or Data Processor for that processing. MisterEtec independently controls the limited business, security, and support data needed to operate its service.
2. Data the product processes
- Account, tenant, authorization, and sync-root identifiers supplied by the service.
- A device identifier and a cryptographic device fingerprint used to pair and secure an authorized desktop device.
- Authentication tokens. The desktop application stores its local token using Windows current-user data protection.
- Sync configuration and state, including selected local roots, normalized relative paths, file or folder type, size, timestamps, revisions, sync manifests, transfer intent identifiers, and recycle or restore history.
- Document names, paths, metadata, and content when a user authorizes a sync, upload, download, restore, or related recovery operation.
- SHA-256 content fingerprints where needed to establish file identity or integrity for synchronization. A fingerprint is not used for authorization.
- Limited operational and security records, such as request identifiers, status, error category, and time of an action. The desktop application's normal production logs are designed not to include document content, confidential paths, filenames, or hashes.
- Support communications and the contact details included in them.
3. Why we process data
- To pair authorized devices and authenticate requests.
- To compare approved local and remote sync state, transfer files selected by an authorized user, and maintain recovery and recycle records.
- To protect the service against errors, unauthorized use, corruption, and security incidents.
- To respond to support requests and meet contractual or legal obligations.
4. Legal basis and instructions
Tenant document data is processed under the customer organization's documented instructions and the applicable service agreement. MisterEtec processes its own business, security, and support data as necessary to provide and protect the service, comply with law, and respond to requests. Where consent is required by applicable law, it will be requested in the relevant service flow.
5. Sharing and disclosures
We do not sell personal data or use Counsels Desktop Sync for behavioral advertising. We disclose data only to the relevant customer organization and its authorized users; customer-approved hosting or infrastructure providers needed for that tenant deployment; service providers bound by suitable confidentiality and data-protection obligations; or authorities where required by law.
6. Security
We use safeguards appropriate to the service, including authenticated encrypted transport, authorization checks, controlled device pairing, least-privilege service design, audit and recovery controls, and Windows current-user protection for locally stored authentication material. No system can guarantee absolute security; customers and users must also protect credentials and authorized devices.
7. Retention and deletion
Tenant document data is retained according to the customer's instructions, configured retention rules, and applicable law. Recycle and recovery records may be retained for the period required to provide those features. Local application state remains on the user's device until removed by the user or the application. Support and security records are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for support, security, contractual, or legal purposes.
8. Your choices and rights
For tenant document data, contact your customer organization or tenant administrator first because it controls that data. For information MisterEtec controls, or for privacy questions, access, correction, deletion, grievance, or consent-withdrawal requests, email support@misteretec.com. We may need to verify identity and authority before acting on a request.
9. Children
The product is intended for authorized business and professional use. It is not directed to children. Customer organizations must not authorize use in a way that violates applicable child-data laws.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the service or applicable requirements change. The current version and effective date will be published on this page.
